FAQ

  • How often do we meet?

Generally, we would start off with a weekly appointment and, as improvements take root, our visits can become less frequent switching to every-other-week and gradually tapering off. However, in the event of a crisis or other difficulties, additional sessions may be provided.

  • How long is a session?

A typical session is 55 minutes long. However, some individuals benefit from an extended session format (85 minutes), as it allows time for a more detailed inquiry when needed. Arrangements for an extended session need to be made ahead of time, as I usually book in 1 hour increments.

  • How long does therapy last?

Appropriate treatment length varies depending on severity of issues, type of individual and other factors. Some issues can be dealt with more quickly, while others may require more in-depth analysis. I tend to gravitate toward a short-term solution-  oriented therapy model, but I have also found that certain clients respond better to long-term treatment. I would say that my   practice currently consists of roughly a 50/50 ratio of both long- and short-term treatment modalities.

  • Are issues discussed in therapy confidential?

What you share in therapy is kept confidential. However, there are rare exceptions mandated by law, such as child or elder  abuse, immanent suicide or danger to others.

  • What age group do you work with?

I specialize in treating adults and young adults ages 18 and up.

  • What type of therapy do you provide?

I provide individual therapy applying a combination of treatment modalities: Psychodynamic, Cognitive-Behavioral, Existential,   and Mindfulness to tailor sessions to the specifics of your situation. In my experience, select clients respond well to Hypnotherapy in conjunction with traditional talk therapy.

  • Do you accept insurance?

Yes, but I can only allocate a limited part of my practice to individuals going through insurance.

  • Do you offer a sliding scale?

Yes, I offer sliding scale payments, provided that I have availability and the client meets certain qualifications for a reduced fee.

  • Do you offer free initial consultations?

Yes, I offer a free half-hour consultation for new clients, subject to my availability.

  • What is your cancellation policy?

I require at least a 24-hour notice prior to your scheduled appointment time for any time changes or cancellations. Clients are   charged their regular session fee for missed appointments or sessions canceled within 24 hours of appointment time. I strictly   adhere to this policy in order to properly allocate my clinical time to clients in need.
